Thanks to each of you who have helped this campaign in so many ways - whether by calling voters, knocking on doors, signing petitions or sending us pictures. You have helped make a difference. But after the weeks of campaigning, today is the day that really matters - polling day, because it's at the ballot box that we will really make a difference. That's why I'm asking you to do one simple thing - ask your friends, family and workmates to get to the polling station and ask them to vote Labour, for all our futures. The election today is going to be really tight, and every vote will count. Today is about making a choice - tomorrow will be about living with it. Byron Posted by BYRON on 06 May 2010 Dear Friend -- On the eve of an historic election we're calling on you to make sure you vote tomorrow with your head to deny the Conservatives a majority and get your friends to do the same - take action now! Compass members led the call for tactical voting. The Guardian, The Observer, The Mirror, Jon Cruddas, Ed Balls, Peter Hain and Polly Toynbee and many others agree with you! The argument has been won - we must not waste our votes. As it goes down to the wire let's take hope from the fact that during this campaign David Cameron has not sealed the deal with the British public - by voting intelligently tomorrow there is every chance of stopping him. The Tories hate tactical voting because it has kept them out of office for over a decade. It defeated them in 1997, 2001 and 2005. It can defeat them again! Remember in almost 8 out of 10 key marginal seats we need people to vote Labour. Liberal Democrats and other progressive voters can be safe in the knowledge that they will not be delivering New Labour a crushing majority like they did in 1997, instead there is the real chance to share power for the first time in decades and with it create a new politics. We are also calling for Labour supporters, in a small minority of seats to consider backing Liberal Democrats to stop the Conservatives. This will mean Labour gets an unprecedented fourth chance to govern and block David Cameron from gaining a majority and with it the keys to Number 10. The polls continue to show a massive progressive majority, this is not a conservative country, let's not allow this majority to be trapped in an archaic first-past-the-post system. Allowing Mr Cameron to get elected through the back door, as we allowed Mrs Thatcher throughout the 1980s, would be a travesty. Together, we can change politics for good. Out of the embers of the Conservative's fourth successive defeat a new progressive politics can emerge. One that is genuinely pluralist in which the politics of a more democratic, equal and sustainable Britain can grow stronger. Let's all use our vote wisely and encourage others to do the same: uk/tacticalvoting Download our key marginal seats table here which will help you to decide. This has been a remarkable election - now let's ensure it's a remarkable result. The poor candidates from
these parties do put a very big fight and campaign vigorously using every little trick in the book.
My message to them is if they want to be councillors or MPS then they may have to look elsewhere perhaps, but to fight for seat/s in Edmonton , such as Haselbury Ward, Edmonton Green, Upper Edmonton , Lower Edmonton, Jubilee Ward,or Ponders End, will be a waste of time as far as they are concerned. So the fact that these wards are Safe Labour wards should not come as surprise.
And my advice to the Tories is to stop being very bad losers and accept the facts as they stand.
The people living in the Borough of Enfield as indeed across London wisely decided to support Laboutr, as Labour has the best policies.
Need I say more?
