What a ridiculous state of affairs.
What the Tories did not tell you.
This is surely a CON-DEM Nation
By George Savva
If I was to even buy the smallest bar of chocolate, even a loaf of bread or even a packet of Corn Flakes then even if I was spend less than £3.00. Pounds at least I would have the information on the outside of the packet giving me details of the contents etc.
But no you will not be given the information when in our lifetime most of us will spend the biggest amount of money in buying a house.
The Labour government have introduced HIPS for specific reasons but the Conservatives only after two weeks in power will abolish HIPS (home information packs) because as they believe it takes a long time for the process to finalise the contract.
I am sure now everyone will rush to buy or sell houses in this economic crisis and the government are not doing anyone any favours.
So if you buy a house now you will more or less be denied to have the information on what exactly you are buying but no detail information unless you the buyer, want to know and pay for the costs not the seller .
In other words the system by this Government is equally so if you buy a loaf of bread or chocolate or Corn Flakes you will need to pay extra to get the information of what is in the content. It does work like that.
Happy days are ahead with the odd couple in power in a marriage that will surely end in divorce before the honeymoon is over.
There are signs of course which suggest that just. Have you noticed the uneasiness of Clegg sitting in the House of Commons next to Cameron.
Have you noticed the worry expressed from some Tory back benchers who just cannot stomach either Cameron or Clegg, even the Tories have their doubts over the coalition.
I do admit and give credit to the Labour Government for introducing the Home Information Pack Scheme (HIPS) which enables and gives the buyer the right to receive a comprehensive report on what the stae of the property.
Imagine young couples buying the on a restricted budget and find out that the house will need further repair works of all sorts. The excuse the Con? /Dem Coalition gave and in my opinion it is a very poor excuse is that it will speed up the process of the selling and buying.
Of course the surveyor will do a check on the house on behalf of the buyer and or the building Society or Bank but the HIPS expenses is paid for by the seller.
The other losers are of courses those from working class backgrounds who have studied the HIPS and Home Energy Efficiency Courses at very high tuition fees, taking loans, only to see that what they have studied is no longer required.
No Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg you will be kicked out sooner rather than later as you have let down the businesses on this field and the many poor students who may be faced with unemployment and I for one deplore the way this Right wing CON/DEM coalition will leads us to biblical economic disasters.
There may be many surprises or rather many shocks and bumpy rides ahead and as I said prior to the May 6th elections brace yourselves for a very uncomfortable ride if the Tories win. The Tories have not won of course but the coalition must be seen as nightmare for the nation.
You cannot blame the right wing newspapers now for urging people to vote Tory but there are signs now the people are not happy at all the way the coalition started.
In the hope that people will forget the drastic and unfair measures the Con/Dem have taken so far surely cannot be forgotten as families will remember as a result of the hardships this right wing government have inflicted to working and middle classes ranks of this country.

Blue plaque for missionary Gladys goes back on wall
Wednesday, 11 November 2009
Job done: Councillor George Savva with Gladys Aylward deputy head Paul Phillips
By Nick Tarver Enfield Advertiser
A NEW blue plaque commemorating a missionary made famous in a Hollywood film will replace the original which had been ripped down.
The original plaque, which commemorated Gladys Aylward, was taken down by tenants of a house in Cheddington Road, Edmonton, in April, causing outrage among other local residents.
Despite repeated appeals for it to be replaced, the landlady of the property has finally agreed that another plaque can take its place.
Haselbury ward councillor George Savva led the original protest and Gladys Aylward School, in Windmill Road, Edmonton, and the Enfield Society have agreed to share the bill for a new plaque at a cost of just under £700.
Mr Savva said: “After a long campaign I’m glad the owner has agreed to allow us to put the plaque back. The plaque is something that Edmonton should be proud of and we should look after these things because it’s our heritage.”
Born into a working class family in 1902, Gladys grew up in Edmonton, but travelled to China in the 1930s to work as a missionary.

Adult Social Services Report
3rd November 2009
Independent Living / The Big Care Debate
Adult Social care is one of the three top priorities the Government have identified and currently there is on website the Government’s Green Paper.
You may wish to read the relevant documents on www.careandsupport@direct.gov.uk
At the recent Adult Social Services conference in Harrogate Phil Hope Cabinet Minister for Adult Social Care showed his and the government’s commitment by staying right through the entire conference (first time it happened) and has met Labour Delegates from up and down the country to listen and hopefully take the suggestions on board. Andy Burnham M.P. did deliver a very good speech as indeed Ed Balls and were very critical of the Tories not willing to come out with any policies but just attacking the government. All speakers emphasised the need to mention the very good things Labour Government have achieved and has listed a number of initiatives taken by the Labour Government and the investment in front line services.
Phil Hope suggested three options on care at the end of life.
An insurance policy where everyone takes up a policy for £25,000.00 or a one paid off sum of £17,000.00 or a partnership approach where the state may share the costs with the individual. Following a recent consultation the feelings are quite mixed at the moment and there are no clear indications as to where the majority of people will go for mainly I believe it is because people have not read the Green Paper or want more clarification.
The Big Care debate is under way as recent figures showing by 2030 about 2 million more people will
Need care and support and by the same time (2030) a quarter of million people
will be 85 years of age or above that.
Local authorities will be supported by the Government (as there is an acute shortage) in encouraging school leavers to be trained in the Adult Social Care.
Local Councils are having to employ to a large extend Agency Staff.
The current situation is far from satisfactory and the users of services are having to put up with getting to know new carers.
Hopefully the new contract with private sector may allow users to have the services of carers who are familiar with the needs the culture and way of life habits and customs.
During the last Adult Social Services scrutiny panel it was strongly emphasised by the Labour side that the providers who specialise and cater for the needs of the ethnic community be considered to provide a service to parts of the community that prefer and require such service.
Carers Centre
As there is a shortage of carers in Enfield and in view of the Green Paper proposals to encourage people to live independently there may be a need to train more carers.
In addition to that a pilot scheme to help people at the early stage of been diagnosed with dementia is to train the sufferer to get into a routine where the progress of dementia may be slowed.. a pilot scheme is under way and we in Enfield are spending a small amount of money towards this new scheme as another borough has begun this pilot.
It is not clear though whether this will bring the results we all expect. It is at an early stage but no one has come forward to say it definitely going to work.

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public
car park. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the
rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home,
it was a receipt for petrol. Luckily my friend told me not to
stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the
car Then we received this email yesterday.

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--
NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'
Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating.. You walk
across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You
start the engine put it into Reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your
space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle
of the rear window. So, you stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your
money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are
now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away.
