Haselbury Matters
Some Tory candidates running for Edmonton did not know when challenged on the doorstep that their Conservative Council inEenfield closed the Weir Hall Library.
Surely one would have known the history of the area if they stand as candidates,
Thankfully the Conservatives will never win Haselbury or Edmonton for that matter.
They are not even ashamed to knock on peoples' doors asking for their support.
The Conservatives and their unworkable policies will be thrown in the dusbin of History .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are some areas in Edmonton that people may be forgiven for thinking the Council has forgotten they ever existed.
One look in Haselbury Green N9 all along this quiet road there are potholes of all shapes and sizes and they have been in evidence for sometime now.
Even if a bomb was to be dropped in some roads, such a damage may never have been inflicted the way these roads are in such a bad state
If the Tory Cabinet member for Environment Cllr T Neville tells us there are dealing with the situation I am sorry to say they are losing the battle to pursuade people that is what they are doing as action speak louder than just simple words.
If he tells us he has dealt with 9.000 potholes either they get filled with sugar or if they do 1.000 potholes a week then they may be missing another so many.
Filling them is not the way forward but perhaps they may care to carry proper repair works to those roads,
Such as Deanway, Haselbury Road, Latymer Road, Winchester Road, Latymer Way to name but a few and what about Westerham Avenue.
Some of these roads need to be seen to be believed in what state they are in.
So when they tell us they have dealt with 9.000 potholes you may wish to halve that figure and then take away another half and perhaps you may reach the right figure by just taking away three quarters of what is left.
Please Enfield Council enough is enough.
Kind regards

Local Elections In London Thursday May 6th 2010
EACH VOTER HAS 3 (three) votes to elect the 3 councillors to represent you at Local level at the Council.
Please give YOU 3 VOTES to your 3 LABOUR candidates and your support to Labour
The Tories have let London badly not only by Mayor Johnson but also across London where the Toreis are ruling most of the London Boroughs have increased the cut backs and closures.
Only Labour can bring back some law and order as indeed in Enfield where closures of Residential Homes and libraries along with no youth provision and essential services the Tories in Enfiled need to be ousted.
Many parents waiting for a school place for their child have been denied by the Education dept in Enfield.
Most departments are in dissaray, The lack o f grrtting roads and pavements during the icy conditions it is another indicaton Enfield council is lacking in vision and planning.
Councils need to be transparent but unfortunately Tory controlled Enfield Council does not consult its residents and carries out regardless of what people will really like to see.
LABOUR WILL LISTEN TO THE PEOPLES' NEEDS.,
VOTE LABOUR AT THE NEXT ELECTIONS 6TH MAY 2010
THERE WILL BE NO CUTS IN THE NHS. FACT
THE SCAREMONGERING BY THE TORIES SEEMS TO HAVE NO END.
The press release below explains the situation.

Services to expand not contract
30 November 2009
Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Programme Board (PCTs and Acute Trust) can categorically refute any claims that Barnet and North Middlesex Hospitals Accident and Emergency departments will be downgraded.
In fact, the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey (BEH) strategy will see an expansion of these services, not a contraction.
In the meantime, work is now well underway to begin the implementation of phase 1 of the Clinical Strategy as endorsed last year by the Secretary of State for Health, Alan Johnson. This includes centralisation of inpatient paediatrics and the expansion of obstetric, maternity and neonatal services on the Barnet and North Middlesex Hospital sites.
By 2013, Accident & Emergency services will be centralised at Barnet and North Middlesex Hospitals, while Chase Farm Hospital will have a 12-hour, consultant led, Urgent Care Centre.
An elective inpatient centre and a range of other services including outpatients, diagnostics, rehabilitation, and intermediate care will be maintained or developed at Chase Farm Hospital.
Health services across a wide part of North Central London are being reviewed as part of Healthcare for London to deliver better quality care and better value for money to all patients. The review is still at a very early stage. Any proposals, which are then made by clinicians, will require formal consultation and further discussion with health professionals, patients and the public before final decisions are taken. Proposals will take months to discuss and consult on before final decisions are taken.
Nigel Beverley Chief Executive of NHS Enfield and chair of BEH Strategy Programme Board said:
"It is tremendously exciting to be planning these new services. When delivered the local NHS will be able to offer better quality of services to its patients fit for the 21st century. To make any suggestion that the Barnet or North Middlesex A&E Departments are being downgraded is irresponsible and misinformed."
The Phase 1 building programme is due to be completed in spring 2011.

Latest News as at 21/10/2009
Harrow Drive/ Winchester Road/ Latymer Road N9 Traffic Calming Measures to be introduced soon.
Your Labour Ward Councillor George Savva At Your Service As Ever.
As a result of a long campaign which included petitions and discussions at the Civic Centre, Cllr George Savva Haselbury Ward councillor has won the fight to have traffic calming measures in the aforementioned roads
By December 2009 new electronic signs will be put up in those roads with additional traffic calming measures in Latymer road near Churchfield School.
Cllr George Savva welcoming the news said that this was the result of new procedures which were introduced by the government for local authorities to adopt under the “Councillors Call For Action”. This gives the councillor power to ask the local council to review the issue/s provided the councillor can satisfy the council it has done everything in his/ her and has exhausted all avenues.
If you need to discuss this issue or any other issues regarding the London Borough of Enfield please phone George Savva on 020 8351 1385.
Keston Close N18 Another success by Cllr George Savva
Under the councillors call for action Keston Close will have parking on the pavement and will not have double yellow lines all along the road but for a few metres only.
This was again an issue raised under the new CCFA and cllr George Savva said.
“It goes to show that the council can make a mistake and Tory Cllr Terry Neville has to learn to listen to the calls from the residents in this borough”.
We will continue to raise issues if and when they arise and are determined to fight for common sense when the council fails to see the real issue.
There are two ward organisers working along George Savva and these are Patricia Eckechi and Ali Bakir
You can contact George Savva on 020 8351 1385.
The next advice surgery will be held at Churchfield School Latymer Road N9 on Friday 6/11/09 at 19.00 to 20.00 No appointment necessary but please phone if you are coming.

ENFIELD BUCKS THE TREND
Whatever the results of the European elections in the rest of the country, in Enfield the results were far worse for the Conservatives than they were for the Labour Party. Compared to results in the 2006 local elections, the figures suggest that Labour is now relatively more popular in Enfield than the ruling Tories.
Enfield Labour Leader, Jeff Rodin, commented "Given what has been dominating the headlines nationally and locally for the past few weeks, no one could be surprised at the fact that the Labour Party had the worst electoral result in living memory. However, here in Enfield, Labour actually improved its position relative to the Conservatives and, given that the Labour Party's position will undoubtedly improve over the next 12 months, Labour is on target to win back control of Enfield Council. If I was the Tory Leadership in Enfield, I would be planning my exit strategy and ordering the packing cases."
ENDS
Notes for the Editor
2006 local elections share of the vote between the two main parties - Conservatives 57.3% - Labour 42.7%
2009 European Elections Conservatives 56.9% - Labour 43.1%

Road Safety measures
As a result of a long campaign to get the Council in introducing some road safety measures I have been asking for some time now with the help of the residents, finally the council will introduce in Winchester Road, Harrow Drive, Latymer Road electronic notices asking drivers to slow down.
This was the result of the item I have placed under the new scheme introduced by the Government for local authorities, to review issues raised by Councillors over a long period. This is called “Councillors Call for Action”.
Since this scheme was introduced back in April I have been able to get positive reactions as long as the council is satisfied that all avenues have been exhausted.
Gladys Aylward Plaque to be replaced
For those who have followed the campaign since January to have the plaque replaced since it went missing , at last we have managed to get the owner of the house to agree in allowing us to place a new one at the house where Gladys Aylward lived at 67 Cheddington Road N18.
In January 2010 a special ceremony will be conducted outside the house with participation of the Head teacher, teachers and pupils from Gladys Aylward school. Representatives from Enfield society will also be present.
More information will be given through the local newspapers nearer the time.
If you are aware of any other plaques that have gone missing or war plaques commemorating the names of soldiers in the Great war 1914/1918 or during the 2nd world war and recently please let me know.
P.T.O. for an article appeared recently in the
Enfield Advertiser.
by Nick Tarver
A NEW blue plaque commemorating a missionary made famous in a Hollywood film will replace the original which had been ripped down.
The original plaque, which commemorated Gladys Aylward, was taken down by tenants of a house in Cheddington Road, Edmonton, in April, causing outrage among other local residents.
Despite repeated appeals for it to be replaced, the landlady of the property has finally agreed that another plaque can take its place.
Haselbury ward councillor George Savva led the original protest and Gladys Aylward School, in Windmill Road, Edmonton, and the Enfield Society have agreed to share the bill for a new plaque at a cost of just under £700.
Cllr . Savva said: “After a long campaign I’m glad the owner has agreed to allow us to put the plaque back. The plaque is something that Edmonton should be proud of and we should look after these things because it’s our heritage.”
Born into a working class family in 1902, Gladys grew up in Edmonton, but travelled to China in the 1930s to work as a missionary.
